Poetry > Cry for me
19th January 2025
In a crucible you made a home
Cut your hands wringing blood from stone
In a trance you walked away
I shook your body hoping you might stay
I'd never felt so alone
Why couldn't you see me, feel me, holding you
Or feel my absence after I withdrew
You turned around and broke my crown
I clutch the broken fragments now
Why don't you notice me, notice me
Just hold me tight before I sleep, before I sleep
Why can't you cry for me, cry for me
Just hold me tight before you sleep, before you sleep
Your silence left me searching blind
I had no window to your mind
You gave me tests with rules unknown
You disregard the ways I've grown
To my fate, I was resigned
Teach me the songs that soothe you best
Release upon my open chest
The pain concealed that proves it true
That you need me as I need you
Why don't you notice me, notice me
Just hold me tight before I sleep, before I sleep
Why can't you cry for me, cry for me
Just hold me tight before you sleep, before you sleep
Is it so hard to tell me how much I mean to you
I'll be your king just tell me what I have to do
These castle walls protect me from my kin
When will you free me from this pain I'm in
Why don't you notice me, notice me
Just hold me tight before I sleep, before I sleep
Why can't you cry for me, cry for me
Just hold me tight before you sleep, before you sleep
